A Summer of Glamour: A Season of Bespoke Millinery Creations at Royal Ascot
What. A. Summer.
I can still feel the shimmer of that heatwave; not just from the sun, but from the sparkle of diamanté, the flutter of plumes, and the sheer radiance of the season's finest. It was a whirlwind of style, celebration, and sensational headwear.
From Royal Ascot to the adrenaline of Asia Cup Polo, the past months have been a heady concoction of high fashion, equestrian thrills and lashings of Pimms, all swirled into a summer to remember.
And right at the centre of it all? My passion: Louis Mariette hats, proudly flying the flag for my bespoke millinery creations, with a dash of daring, a dollop of joy, and a whole lot of fabulousness.
Ascot: Where Hats Take Centre Stage
Royal Ascot is the crown jewel of the British social calendar. For me, as Louis Mariette the hat designer, it is quite simply the pinnacle. This year, the anticipation was electric as my fellow milliners and I unveiled our creations to the world’s media. The atmosphere was giddy with glamour and the ladies turned the turf into a catwalk, each step in Manolo heels making a statement, each glance a nod to the art of millinery.
Louis Mariette hats danced under the summer sky; creations festooned with feather plumes, rare silks, hand-embroidered lace and vintage embellishments. From whimsical to avant-garde, each bespoke millinery creation told a story. I couldn’t help but feel like Willy Wonka let loose in a candy-coloured wonderland of textures, trims, and tantalising treats.
And the gentlemen; with their morning suits, silk cravats and vintage top hats; completed the portrait of finery. It was here, amongst the clinking of flutes and the rustle of race cards, that I took up my new role as content creator for Cellotape Magazine; interviewing the elegant attendees, diving into the details of their outfits, and celebrating the timeless joy of style.
